Golden LEAF News - February 2010

Greetings!

At its February 2010 Board meeting, the Golden LEAF Foundation awarded 47 grants totaling over $14.7 million to boost economic and educational opportunities in tobacco-dependent, economically distressed and rural communities. The awards will provide funding to organizations from Canton in the west to Manteo in the east.

Several of these grants were awarded through the Foundation's special initiatives, which address identified needs and/or targeted communities across the state. Awards were also made through the Foundation's Open Grants Program addressing the following areas: workforce preparedness, economic development, agriculture, and educational advancement.

Golden LEAF encourages potential applicants from 501(c)(3) nonprofits and governmental entities to contact us with questions before submitting a proposal. If you have a project that will serve a tobacco-dependent, economically distressed or rural community that corresponds with priorities from the Foundation’s programs, send an e-mail to programs@goldenleaf.org or call 888-684-8404 to speak with a Program Officer.

Best,
